17/07/07  League tables and results for all Veteran County Teams for 2006/7 added.
17/07/07  A lengthy discussion took place at last weeks AGM in relation to the development of Junior Table Tennis in Kent.  It was agreed that a Junior Kent League should be run next season along the lines of the discussion document prepared for the AGM. If you have any views on this subject or are preapred to run one of the regional events please email Len Pilfold.
17/07/07  At last weeks AGM new KCTTA rules were approved and are available in the General Info section.
17/7/07  Lewis Gray and Helshan Weerasinghe have been selected to join an England Youth Development Squad for a joint England and Spain training and competition camp at the Alto Rendimento De Christina, Los Alcazares near Murcia from 6th to 11th August 2007.  Given the recent weather in Kent there are clearly benefits in being selected!
14/07/07  It is sad to record the death of Pauline Piddock wife of former Kent number one Tony Piddock.  Pauline was a player of international standard and was part of the English team who visited China in 1971. For details of that visit.  Our condolences to her family.
12/07/07  At last nights AGM Mark Romano was appointed Chairman to replace Neil Highams who had decided to stand down from the committee.  Sally Wilson and Bob Baker joined the committee.  For contact details please see Contact Us

As a result of Mark becoming Chairman he stood down as President and Barry Chapman was appointed to succeed him.

01/07/07  Will Bayley put in another excellent performance at the Polish Open. Will and David Wetherall achieved another victory in a European team event when they once again got the better of European Champions Denmark.  In the singles Will lost in the final to the Dane Peter Rosenmeier who he had beaten in both the team event and in his singles group.  Well done Will.

14/06/07 At the KCTTA AGM on Wednesday 11 July 2007 the committee want to discuss how to increase participation in Junior Table Tennis in Kent.  Consideration is being given to bringing back the Junior Kent League and a discussion document has been produced.  Please come to the AGM and participate in the discussion or email us with your views.
12/06/07  Lewis Gray and Harry Lumb have been invited to the important England Development Squad training session at Lilleshall over the weekend of 16 & 17 June.  Peter Charters, ETTA Vice Chairman for Selection said "This camp is important in that it will let us look at players just coming out of under 13, so we can assess who to work with in the future with the potential to make a leap in standard to international level.We delayed sending out some invitations until we saw how they got on at the recent National Under 11,12,13 & 14 Championships in Norwich."
11/06/07  The Mid Sussex Butterfly Grand Prix produced some good results for Kent players.  Will Bayley won the Men's Band 5 Singles beating Alexander Facey in the final 8,-3,9,-10,8.  In the Women's Band 2 Singles Jurate Brazaityte was runner up losing in the final to Kelly Skeggs.  Jurate also did well in the main Women's Singles where she reached the semi final after beating Welsh international Naiomi Wilson in her group.  Jasmin Ould reached the semi final of the Women's Band 3 Singles losing to Holly Stubbins.
07/06/07  Ross Wilson and Helshan Weerasinghe won the Under 12 Boys Doubles at the National Under 11, 12, 13 & 14 Championships and Harry Lumb reached the final of the Under 13 Boys Singles. Report 
02/06/07  The Kent League suffered from cancellations of some of the top matches this season.  Let us know your thoughts on how it could be improved
02/06/07  Entry Form for 2007/8 Kent League.  Please note the closing date for entries is Friday 17 August and the fixture meeting will be held at 10:00am on Sunday 16 September 2007 at Barming Village Hall.
02/06/07  Final League Tables, Averages and Report on Veteran Kent League for 2006/7.  Congratulations to Medway "A", Canterbury "A" and Sittingbourne "B" who won their divisions. Trophies will be presented at the KCTTA Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 11 July.
20/05/07  Lewis Gray and Will Bayley help Kent County Council launch their 2012 Olympics campaign and strategy and impress Dame Kelly Holmes.  Full story 
12/05/07  It is sad to record the death of Albert Shipley on Sunday 6 May at the age of 77.  The funeral will take place on Tuesday 22nd May at 11:45am in the Hastings Crematorium, The Ridge, Hastings, East Sussex TN34 2AE. The Wake will take place afterwards at Hawkhurst Golf Club.  For further details contact Robert Sinclair, ETTA General Secretary (Tel. 01424 722525, email Robert.Sinclair@etta.co.uk).

Albert was well known to many in Kent having been actively involved in the Bromley League as Secretary before he moved on to higher office as Administrative and General Secretary of the ETTA from 1967 to 1989.  He then completed his career at the very top working for the ITTF. He was also the MC at many national and international table tennis events a role in which he excelled. 
12/05/07  The KCTTA Annual General Meeting will be on Wednesday 11 July at 7:30 for 8:00pm.  The venue is as last last year the Civil Sports Club in Recreation Close, Maidstone.  The bar will be open throughout the meeting.  Papers will be posted on the website as they become available and also posted to leagues.  The unaudited Accounts and the Treasurers Report are available in the AGM section of General Info.

Will Bayley combined with David Wetherall to win gold in the team event at the Slovenian Open by beating European Champions Denmark.  Will beat world number 4 Peter Rosenmier 14-12 in the fifth having recovered from two games down, David beat world number 8 Michel Jenson and they combined to win the doubles three straight.

In the singles Will lost 11-8 in the fifth to Nico Blok who is ranked 6 in the world.  Will has made excellent progress this season including reaching the semi finals of the Mens Singles in the Kent Closed and we wish him well in his quest to qualify for the Olympics in Beijing.  Pictures in the General category in the Gallery.

08/05/07  Ratings following the Ratings Tournament held on 22 April 2007. 
08/05/07  Kirsty Wilson has been selected to play in the South East of England team at the UK Schools Olympics in Coventry in August. This follows her success in reaching the quarter finals of the National Schools Championships at Stoke on Trent in April, her recent performances at the Essex Four Star where she qualified for the elite event, and coming 10th at the Cadet Masters at Cippenham this weekend. Well done Kirsty.

08/05/07  Winners and Runners Up at the Kent Senior Closed  on Sunday 6 May 2007 at Body & Mind Canterbury.  Jo Kennedy continued his recent dominance of the Mens events and the Yarnley family picked up 3 titles and were also runners up in 2 events.
07/05/07  Winners at the Kent Junior Closed on Saturday 5 May 2007 at Body & Mind Canterbury.  Congratulations to all the winners but particular congratulations to Emma Tovey who won 4 events and to James Glass who won 3. 
01/05/07 Lewis Gray won the Under 13 Boys Singles at the Essex Junior Open beating Harry Lumb in the final.  Report from Ken Muhr and report on whole event.
01/05/07  The Kent Veteran Over 60s 1st team lost in the County Championship play-off to Worcestershire.  In a very tight match Kent lost 6-4 with Margaret Dignum, who used to play in the Maidstone League, helping to secure victory for Worcestershire.  Full report.

23/04/07  Harry Lumb has been invited to the next Youth Development Squad at Lillishall on 19/20 May.  The Youth Development Squad is a pool of players whose talent/achievements have been identified by the England coaching staff. Within the Youth Development Squad training camps players receive coaching and competitive play. Well done Harry and keep up the good work.
22/04/07  Congratulations to Lewis Gray, Kirsty Wilson, Ross Wilson, Harry Lumb, and Lauren Beaumont who played for the South East region at the National Regional Squad Finals at Fenton Manor this weekend. They were members of the squad which won the national title by beating the South West region in the final.
19/04/07    Will Bayley won another international medal when he picked up bronze at the Czech Open.  Will lost to Nico Blok from Holland in the semi finals who is ranked 4 in the world but had impressive victories over players ranked 5, 11 and 26 in the world.  Will aims to be in Beijing for the 2008 Olympics and he is now in the top 20 in the world rankings.
17/04/07  Ross WilsonSuccess for Ross Wilson at Cheltenham.  At the Cotswold 4 Star Junior Open Ross was runner up in the Under 13 Boys Singles losing in the final to
J. Thursby 7, 6, 8.  Details of the event.

22/03/07  The Cippenham Cadet and Under-13 2-Star Open Championships on 17th March saw success for Kent players.  Jasmin Ould won the Cadet Girls Singles and Harry Lumb was runner up in the Cadet Boys Singles.  Jasmin beat Chloe Thomas from Wales 10,8,8 in the final while Harry lost to Daniel O'Connell also from Wales 7,-6,12,3.  Details of the event.

07/03/07 Will Bayley won the Standing Disabled Singles at the English National Table Tennis Championships at Sheffield last weekend beating C Cattell from Nottinghamshire 11-8, 11-5, 8-11, 11-13, 11-5 in the final.  Well done Will lets hope there are many more successes to report.
