14/08/08  After more than 60 years playing the game Weald's Eddie Wilson is retiring at nearly 80.  Full story from Ken Muhr.
08/08/08  David Cue has worked very hard in the role as Kent Umpires Secretary to increase the number of Umpires in the County.  Updated list 
07/08/08  Final Junior Ratings for Season 2007/8 added.  These take account of all the Ratings Tournaments and the Kent CLosed.
07/08/08  Updated senior ratings are now available.  They take account of the 2008 Kent Closed results.  Unfortunately the ratings have not been updated in the last couple of years as all the relevant data had not been made available to Len Pilfold.  Mens ratings  Womens Ratings

07/08/08  Lewis Gray has become England Cadet Number 1 from the start of next season.  More details of rankings and other matters in a report from Ken Muhr 
27/07/08 Lewis Gray has been invited to the British Olympics TTA observation/assessment camp at Lilleshall National Sports Centre Shropshire from 5th to 14th August. Report from Ken Muhr which also covers the trip Lewis made to Saudi Arabia.
27/07/08 Kirsty Wilson, of the Howard Table Tennis Club, Rainham, Kent has once again been selected to play in the UK School Games which take place in Bath from the 28th-31st August. She is representing the South East of England along with among others  Darius Knight (no.2 senior men England), Sara Wang, Yolande King ( who trains at the South East Performance Centre at Cranbrook with Kirsty) and Will Maybanks.
27/07/08 In his last intenational competition before the Beijing Olympics Will Bayley won Gold and Bronze medals in Germany.  Team gold was won with Paul Karabardak who Will beat to gain bronze in the singles.   Full details of the eventGood luck to Will in Beijing.
08/07/08 Kirsty Wilson won team gold and individual bronze at the Home Countries Schools International Championships read Ken Muhr's report.

29/06/08  Final Kent League Veterans league tables and averages added with thanks to David Cue for all his hard work during the season.

Lewis Gray was also selected to represent England in the Home Countries Schools International but has chosen instead to join an ETTA squad going to Saudi Arabia from 28 June to 6 July for matches and training.  Dad Dicon explained "It was a difficult decision but we decided on Saudi Arabia for the life experience and for the concentrated and extended training."

29/06/08  Kirsty Wilson of the Howard Club, Howard School, Gillingham selected to represent England in the Home Countries Schools International at Cardiff on 27th-29th June.

02/06/08  Lewis Gray won the National Under 14 boys singles title at Norwich last weekend. Jasmin Ould reached the quarter final of the Under 14 girls singles where she lost to Emily Bates who won the event.  Ross Wilson got to the quarter finals of the boys under 13 singles.  Report from Ken Muhr

Kirsty Wilson of the Howard Table Tennis Club, Rainham has been selected to represent England Under 16 girls in the forthcoming Schools Table Tennis International in Cardiff from Friday 27th June to Sunday 29th June 2008 at the National Sports Centre there. This follows her outstanding performance at the Butterfly Individual Championships where she reached the semi-final losing only one match to the ultimate winner, Natalie Slater. Congratulations Kirsty.

26/03/08  Congratulations to Will Bayley who has been selected for the Great Britain team going to the Beijing Olympics.  This is the first time a Kent table tennis player has achieved Olympic selection.  The very best of luck in Beijing Will and we all hope you are also the frst Kent table tennis player to come back with an Olympic medal.
18/03/08  We have received an email from Mel Green in relation to his father Mr S A Green.  Mel understands that his father was Kent County Junior Chanpion at some time.  Mr Green is now 92 and Mel was wondering if it was possible to trace any records of his father playing for the County or winning any competitions. Unfortunately we have no detailed records going back this far and initial investigations have not produced any information.  Could you help? If so please email info@kctta.net and we wil pass it on to Mel.

07/03/08  The Kent League team tournament was held at Byng Hall on 17 February and was won by the Medway A team of Scott Friday, Chris Marr and Wayne Youngs.  Full report from David Cue

27/02/08  We are saddened to record the death of Albert Hill former Chairman of the Bromley League at the age of 78.  The funeral is at the Beckenham Crematorium at 12:45 on Thursday 28 February. 
22/02/08  Lewis Gray has gained sponsorship from P&O Ferries of £3,000 as part of their Talented Athlete Programme.  Details available from the P&O website including a synopsis his table tennis career and a picture of Lewis and others with their cheques.  Well done Lewis.

18/02/08  It is with sadness we record the death of John Fraser the President of the North West Kent League who died on 15 February 2008.
17/02/08 Lewis Gray has been selected to represent England at Under 15 level in Spain. Full story
17/02/08  Ross Wilson and Kirsty Wilson of the Howard Table Tennis Club,  entered their second senior Butterfly Grand Prix on the 2nd and 3rd February at Doncaster. Kirsty reached the final of the Band 3 tournament narrowly losing to Mary Fuller in the final. She also had some good wins in the under 21 category, winning her group but then going out to the finalist, Clare Nelson of Ireland. Ross got to the semi-final of the Band 5 event and the quarters of the Band 6 event.

Lauren Beaumont and Katie Wilson, both of the Howard Table Tennis Club, went to the Essex One Star in Harlow on 2nd February 2008 and both did exceptionally well. Lauren won the under 13 event and Katie was runner up in the under 11 event.

25/01/08  Over the weekend of 19 and 20 January 2008 the Swedish club Molndals hosted the MBTK trofen in Gothenberg City.  A full report is available on the ETTA websiteKirsty Wilson did well to reach the semi finals of the girls class 17 and Jasmin Ould also claimed some excellent wins.

23/11/07 It is with very great sadness we record the death of Chris Laming.  The funeral will be held at Chartham Church on Monday 26 November at 11:00am.  Chris was involved in Kent and Canterbury table tennis for many years and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Lauren Beaumont aged 11 of the Howard Table Tennis Club has been invited to an under 12 England Youth Development camp at Lilleshall on 3rd November. This is great news for Lauren and the club. Well done !

12/10/07  Winners of the Ratings Tournament on 23 September were Jide Owolabi - Under 18 Band A, John Tu - Under 18 Band B and Gregory Eyebi-Kadock - Under 13 Band A.  Congratulation to them all.
12/10/07  In addition to Harry Lumb and Kirsty Wilson, Lewis Gray from Weald TTC has also been invited to the England training camp starting on 22 October.  Two Sussex players from Weald, Helshan Weersinghe and Yolanda King, have also been invited.

Success for Kent players at the one star junior open tournament at Grantham over the weekend.  Kirsty Wilson won the cadets girls singles and was runner up in the junior event.  Ross Wilson won the under 13 boys singles and was runner up in the cadets.  There was also success for fellow Howard club player Philip Thomas and Jide Owalabi of TTK Deptford.  Well done to all of them.
01/10/07  Harry Lumb and Kirsty Wilson from the Howard Table Tennis Club, have been invited to a four day England training camp on 22nd October.
27/09/07  We are saddened to record the death of Peter Warner on Sunday 23 September.  Peter was a keen table tennis player who was known to many people in the county as well as a very accomplished artist and musician.  Details of the funeral on Tuesday 2 October.
26/09/07 Will Bayley won individual gold and team silver at the German Open.  A fantastic performance and another step on the way to establishing himself as a top world player.  Details
26/09/07  Ken Muhr has won the ETTA's "Contribution to coaching" award.  Details and picture of Ken receiving his award. 
18/09/07  The Kent League Tournament event will be held on Sunday 17 February 2008 at Byng Hall in Tunbridge Wells.
18/09/07  Dates for the Kent Closed are confirmed as Saturday 3 May 2008 for the Kent Junior Closed and Sunday 4 May 2008 for the Kent Senior Closed.  The events to take place at Body and Mind Canterbury.
09/09/07  Notes from the Maidstone League AGM.  An interesting discussion took place about increasing participation in the game particularly in respect of Juniors.  KCTTA have responded to this through the discussion about reintroducing Junior Kent League, see the discussion document.  We need support for this so please contact Len Pilfold if you would like to help.
02/09/07  Congratulations to Kirsty Wilson who at the UK School Games at Coventry  representing the South East of England won a gold medal in the girls team event.
